Melbourne Regional Medical Center continues to monitor the national and global situation of coronavirus disease 2019

Melbourne Regional Medical Center continues to monitor the national and global situation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and is prepared to support our community and safely care for any ill patient.

At the same time, it is important to remember that we are still in flu season – which is far more prevalent than coronavirus. As such, Public Health officials recommend the following common-sense precautions to contain the spread of these and other respiratory viruses:

Wash your hands often and thoroughly with warm water and soap. When that’s not possible, use an alcohol-based hand cleanser.

Cover your mouth and nose with your flexed elbow or with tissue when sneezing or coughing.

Avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes.

Stay home if you feel sick.

If you are experiencing a cough, fever, and/or a shortness of breath and have traveled to China or been in close contact with someone who could have been exposed to coronavirus, please contact your physician for further instructions. If you need to go to an Emergency Room, it is best to notify them beforehand or immediately upon arrival, request and wear a face mask, and avoid close contact with others.
